In episode 125, which aired on December 6, 2013, Ruqaiya Begum, the chief consort of Akbar, confronts Jodha for writing a letter to her husband. She accuses Jodha of trying to seduce Akbar and warns her to stay away from him. Jodha denies any such intention and says that she only wrote the letter to thank Akbar for saving her life from a snake bite. She also says that she respects Ruqaiya as her elder sister and has no desire to take her place.

Ruqaiya does not believe Jodha and tears the letter in front of her. She tells Jodha that she is the only one who has the right to write to Akbar and that Jodha should not forget her status as a political prisoner. She also says that she will not tolerate any interference in her relationship with Akbar and that Jodha should be grateful for the privileges she has been given.

Jodha feels hurt and humiliated by Ruqaiya's words and leaves the room. She wonders why Ruqaiya hates her so much and why she cannot see her sincerity. She also wonders why Akbar does not stop Ruqaiya from insulting her and why he does not care for her feelings.

Meanwhile, Salima Begum, another wife of Akbar, finds a letter written by Ruqaiya to Adham Khan, the son of Maham Anga, Akbar's foster mother. In the letter, Ruqaiya expresses her love for Adham and asks him to meet her secretly. Salima is shocked to read the letter and wonders what Ruqaiya is up to. She decides to inform Akbar about it and expose Ruqaiya's betrayal.

The episode ends with a cliffhanger as Salima heads towards Akbar's chamber with the letter in her hand.
